What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts. The industry has four core players: the merchant (also known as ‘retailer’ or ‘brand’), the network (that contains offers for the affiliate to choose from and also takes care of the payments), the publisher (also known as ‘the affiliate’), and the customer. The market has grown in complexity to warrant a secondary tier of players, including affiliate management agencies, super-affiliates and specialized third party vendors.

Affiliate marketing overlaps with other Internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization (SEO), paid search engine marketing (PPC – Pay Per Click), e-mail marketing, content marketingand in some sense display advertising. On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques, such as publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner.

Perhaps the simplest way to explain affiliate marketing is that it is a way of making money online whereby you as a publisher are rewarded for helping a business by promoting their product, service or site.

There are a number of forms of these types of promotions but in most cases they involve you as a publisher earning a commission when someone follows a link on your blog to another site where they then buy something.

Other variations on this are where you earn an amount for referring a visitor who takes some kind of action – for example when they sign up for something and give an email address, where they complete a survey, where they leave a name and address etc.

Commissions are often a percentage of a sale but can also be a fixed amount per conversion.

Conversions are generally tracked when the publisher (you) uses a link with a code only being used by you embedded into it that enables the advertiser to track where conversions come from (usually by cookies). Other times an advertiser might give a publisher a ‘coupon code’ for their readers to use that helps to track conversions.

What is the Difference Between Http and Https?

0

Zainil+Dedhia+PC+Tricks+Difference+Between+HTTP+and+HTTPS++(1)https is hyper text transfer protocol which is responsible for transmitting and receiving information across the Internet where as https is secure https, which is used exchanging confidential information with a server, which needs to be secured in order to prevent unauthorized access.

HTTP is Hyper Text Transport Protocol and is transmitted over the wire via PORT 80(TCP). You normally use HTTP when you are browsing the web, it’s not secure, and so someone can eavesdrop on the conversation between your computer and the web server. HTTP can support the client asking for a particular file to be sent only if it has been updated after a certain date and time. This would be used if the client has already retrieved a copy of a file by that name from that server, but wants to check to see if it has been updated since then. The server responds either with the updated file, with a message to say the file has not been changed, or with a message that the file no longer exists.

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer or HTTP over SSL) is a Web protocol developed by Netscape and built into its browser that encrypts and decrypts user page requests as well as the pages that are returned by the Web server. HTTPS is really just the use of Netscape’s Secure Socket Layer (SSL) as a sub layer under its regular HTTP application layering. (HTTPS uses port 443 instead of HTTP port 80 in its interactions with the lower layer, TCP/IP.) SSL uses a 40-bit key size for the RC4 stream encryption algorithm, new-age browsers use 128-bit key size which is more secure than the former, it is considered an adequate degree of encryption for commercial exchange. HTTPS is normally used in login pages, shopping/commercial sites.

How it Work
Https is not a separate protocol, but refers to the combination of a normal HTTP interaction over an encrypted Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS) transport mechanism. This ensures reasonable protection from eavesdroppers and (provided it is implemented properly and the top level certification authorities do their job properly) man-in-the-middle attacks.

The default TCP port of an https: URL is 443 (for unsecured HTTP, the default is 80). To prepare a web-server for accepting https connections the administrator must create a public key certificate for the web-server. These certificates can be created for Linux based servers with tools such as Open SSL’s ssl or SuSE’s gensslcert. This certificate must be signed by a certificate authority of one form or another, who certifies that the certificate holder is who they say they are. Web browsers are generally distributed with the signing certificates of major certificate authorities, so that they can verify certificates signed by them.

Main Features

How do I transfer my domain to a new registrar?

A domain transfer is, in effect, to transfer domain name from the management under one registrar to another registrar. As a registrar is only responsible for the management of your domain records, this transfer should in no way affect your website, relevant email or domain name server.

In order to process the transfer of domain, individuals need to have domain already under their ownership and a registrar that they want to transfer.

While the process of domain transfer is fairly a simple procedure, it is important to understand the workings of the entire process so that easy and cheap domain name transfer can be executed. If one has a couple of domain names, it is better to keep all of them with a single registrar. Steps for the transfer of domain name are common and can be applied to all the top domain registrars.

Normally, if a domain transfer is purchased, the new registrar will help individual retain all the time remaining in his existing registration and provide a one-year free extension as well. After the purchase of process, the domain at the new registrar will require an authorisation code. The new registrar will notify the buyer by sending an email which contains the transaction ID and the security code. The authorisation code needs to be acquired by logging in with the new registrar. The domain protection should be turned off or unlocked before sending in such a request from the current registrar in order to go through the transition. Following, an email from current registrar with the authorisation code will be received. After acquiring the authorisation code, the domain transfer can now take place from the current registrar to the new registrar. One must log in to their new registrar and begin the transfer process. The new registrar will display the status as ‘authorisation required’. ‘Begin Transfer Authorisation’ is the recommended option that is to be chosen. The authorisation code is then to be entered, which was received from the current registrar through mail, which will complete the process.

After completing this step, the status will be displayed as ‘pending current registrar approval’. ‘Accept transfer at current registrar’ is to be chosen after which an email from the current registrar confirming the transfer request is received. No action is to be taken if the transfer is to be accepted. If one wishes to cancel the transfer, the link provided in the email can be followed.
