“Money Can’t buy happiness!”

I’m sure you’ve heard that one before, but the problem with it is that research shows that money leads to a more satisfying life.

This is a difficult idea for many people to accept because people tell them their entire lives that money won’t bring them happiness.

And then they grow up to not have much money, so they want to believe it.

I grew up with those same paradigms because my poor dad thought too having too much money was greedy and the love of money was evil.

He would constantly say things like…

  • I’m not that interested in money
  • I’ll never be rich
  • I can’t afford it
  • Investing is risky
  • Money isn’t everything

It wasn’t until much later in his life, as he was nearing death, that he came to regret not having much wealth to pass on to his children.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

You can contrast that with my rich dad, who always thought it was foolish that people would spend their entire lives working and then pretend that money isn’t that important.

To him, what was important was…

  • Having time to raise his kids
  • Having money to donate to charities and projects he cared about
  • Bringing jobs and financial stability to his community
  • Having time and money to take care of his health
  • Being able to travel the world with his family

He understood that doing those things required money, and he wasn’t afraid to acknowledge that. While money isn’t everything, it does give you the ability to do what you love in life.
